Best Time to Trek Rupin Pass

🟢 May - June (Pre-Monsoon) – Best for snow-laden trails, frozen waterfalls, and crisp mountain air.
🟢 September - October (Post-Monsoon) – Best for autumn colors, clear views, and moderate temperatures.

Rupin Pass Trek Difficulty & Preparation

💪 Trek Difficulty: Moderate to Difficult – Requires good fitness levels and previous trekking experience.
🎒 Physical Training: Strength training, endurance workouts, and cardiovascular exercises for at least a month before the trek.
⚠️ Altitude Acclimatization: Prepare for high-altitude trekking with proper hydration and gradual ascents.

Important note:- Our itinerary consists of a buffer day, which is only used subjected to the weather conditions, otherwise one might return to Shimla a day prior, if buffer day is not used.

Drive from Shimla to Jiskun (7,630 ft) – Trek Base Camp

🚙 Distance: 280 km | 🕒 Duration: 8-9 hours
🏕️ Stay: Homestay/Guesthouse in Jiskun

✅ The adventure begins with a scenic drive from Shimla to the remote Himalayan village of Jiskun.
✅ The route passes through Rampur, Jeori, and Rohru, offering breathtaking views of deep valleys, pine forests, and gushing rivers.
✅ Spend the evening acclimatizing and exploring the charming village surroundings.

Trek from Jiskun to Jakha – The Hanging Village

🥾 Trek Distance: 4 km | ⏳ Duration: 4 hours
⛰️ Altitude Gain: 7,630 ft to 8,755 ft
🏕️ Stay: Campsite at Jakha

✅ A challenging trek through remote Himalayan villages, traditional wooden houses, and scenic trails.
✅ The trail begins with a steep descent, followed by an intense climb through a mix of forested sections and stone pathways.
✅ Arrive at Jakha, the famous "Hanging Village" built along the slopes, providing breathtaking panoramic views. Overnight stay at camp.

Trek from Jakha to Dhanderas Thatch – The Waterfall Base Camp

⛰️ Altitude Gain: 8,755 ft to 10,770 ft
🏕️ Stay: Campsite at Dhanderas Thatch (Lower Waterfall)

✅ One of the most scenic stretches of the trek, featuring fir forests, snow bridges, and river crossings.
✅ Trek along the Rupin River, crossing wooden bridges and ascending through lush meadows.
✅ Reach Dhanderas Thatch, a spectacular campsite at the base of the iconic Rupin Waterfall.

Buffer Day – Acclimatization & Exploration at Dhanderas Thatch

✔️ Helps with proper acclimatization before tackling high-altitude terrain.

(Note:- Buffer Day is only used if the weather conditions are not good, if the weather conditions are perfect then no buffer day will be used)

Trek from Dhanderas Thatch to Upper Waterfall – The Snow Bridge Adventure

🥾 Trek Distance: 2.4 km | ⏳ Duration: 2-3 hours
⛰️ Altitude Gain: 10,770 ft to 13,275 ft
🏕️ Stay: Campsite at Upper Waterfall

✅ The trek takes you through steep ascents and rocky terrain beside the majestic Rupin Waterfall.
✅ Cross the famous snow bridge (in summer) or navigate rocky trails (in autumn).
✅ Arrive at the Upper Waterfall Camp, located in a breathtaking alpine bowl, surrounded by snow-capped peaks.
✅ Spend the afternoon acclimatizing and preparing for the next day’s pass crossing.

Pass-Crossing Day – Trek to Rupin Pass (15,279 ft), Descend to Ronti Gad

🥾 Trek Distance: 7.4 km | ⏳ Duration: 9-10 hours
⛰️ Altitude Gain & Loss: 13,275 ft → 15,279 ft (Rupin Pass Summit) → 13,005 ft
🏕️ Stay: Campsite at Ronti Gad

✅ Early morning (4AM) trek start to ensure safe summit crossing before noon.
✅ The steep climb through snowfields and rocky gorges leads to Rupin Pass.
✅ The final stretch through Rupin Gully is thrilling and adventurous, requiring endurance and determination.
✅ From the summit of Rupin Pass (15,279 ft), witness mesmerizing views of Kinner Kailash & Charang Ghati Peaks.
✅ A long descent to Ronti Gad follows, testing trekkers’ stamina.

Trek from Ronti Gad to Sangla, Drive to Shimla

🥾 Trek Distance: 11.9 km | ⏳ Duration: 6 hours
⛰️ Altitude Loss: 13,005 ft to 8,660 ft
🚙 Drive to Shimla (Optional Stay in Sangla)

✅ The final stretch descends into the lush meadows of Ronti Gad, offering stunning Himalayan views.
✅ Enter the vibrant Baspa Valley, known for its apple orchards and scenic landscapes.
✅ Reach Sangla, where a vehicle awaits for the return journey to Shimla.

Booking Policy:

To book your trek, you need to pay 30% of the trek fees as advance. Rest 70% to be paid in cash when you reach the basecamp, to be collected by the team leader.

One can pay the amount online(Net Banking, GPay, UPI ID). 

Details to be shared on request.

Cancellation Policy:

  • 30 days before the trek date, full refund of the paid amount

  • 15 days before the trek date, 50% refund of the paid amount.

  • Cancellation less than 15days to the start date of the trek, no refund possible

  • In case Himalayan Passion cancels the trek or trip, full refund will be paid.

  • One has option to send another person on their behalf.

  • One has option to adjust the paid amount on any other trek, if a person cannot join the trek he/she paid for.
